From CEO – NHB Michael Koh (left), musicians Jack & Rai to even Peranakans – there’s something about museums that everyone loves!

Each November spells an exciting time for museums in Singapore because of the annual Explore Singapore! campaign. This year, Explore Singapore! is adopting the theme I Love Museums. With a plethora of activities at more than 20 museums around the island, expect to fall in love with museums, make new friends and discover more about our young, vibrant nation. waronwheel_257x188For war history buffs, join us on War On Wheels, a unique experiential guided tour that traces the footsteps of the Japanese Occupation at various significant war sites in Singapore. A bus ride and history lesson rolled in one, two versions of the tour await and will run every Saturday over three weekends (14, 21 & 28 November). Invasion Singapore! will kick off in the morning as participants follow the advance of the Japanese war machine from their landing on Kranji Beach and later explore the serene greens of the Kranji War Memorial to pay respects to the brave soldiers who died in the war. Relive the war days at our war museums – Reflections at Bukit Chandu and Memories at Old Ford Factory. Singapore Under the Gun carries on with the war theme through the night and focuses more on the experience living under the Japanese Occupation. Discover the ruthless killings at the Sook Ching Massacre site, be amazed by the Changi Chapel Museum, a place that holds Singapore’s often forgotten war history and visit the giant Johore Gun Battery before arriving at The Battle Box at Fort Canning – a huge underground bunker complex that was once an emergency blast-resistent command centre during the battle of Singapore. Expect the tours to be highly interactive with different activities to heighten the war time experience. Not sold yet?
