Read on if you belong to the two categories of people below:

1.       You have missed the two opportunities: family carnival at National Museum of Singapore and the Open House at the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR) for family day last Sunday

2.       You have gone for either one of the Museums last Sunday, or even BOTH museums and are thinking of what next

On this last day before International Museum Day 2009 comes to a close, we hope to intrigue you further in making our museums another hot spot for you and your family. Spare yourself the agony of having to choose which to attend – within walking distance from each other; join The Peranakan Museum (TPM) and the Singapore Philatelic Museum (SPM) for their Open House this coming Sunday.

Join us in our first ever comics bazaar at SPM. With the huge selection of comics and collectibles available, you may end up finding some ”treasures”! Have you tried sending postcards with pretty envelopes, all in your own designs? In conjunction with our exhibition, At the Post Office with Max and Phily, you’ll get to design them yourselves only at the cost of $3 per person. Don”t miss this rare chance of surprising your friends with postcards and envelopes specially designed for them.

The day is not just for the kids. Parents can find out the secrets to making mouth-watering and healthy dishes, which feature milk as an ingredient, at the cooking demonstration from 3pm to 4.30pm. You can even sample the dishes to know if they are to your liking. You no longer have to force your kids to drink milk to get their calcium intake. Delicious dishes with milk in them are available.

With so much fun at SPM, let’s check out what TPM has in store for you and your family as well.

Have you tried using batik as a material to make bookmarks before? At the Batik Fun workshop, it’s your chance then to learn the art. Bet you wouldn’t want to lose your bookmark (like you always do) ever again with this pretty batik bookmark.  One thing to note though, there are only limited vacancies so be there early to register.

Little Nonya fans who have not visited TPM, get up close with the different artefacts shown during the show at the Little Nonya and Baba afternoon tour from 12pm to 1pm at TPM. Admire the exquisite designs on the Peranakan costumes and the beaded slippers. To relive the songs which Chen Sheng, Chen Xi and Yue Niang sang in Little Nonya, Peranakan songs will be performed at the museum as well.
