Here’s a blog from Jave, on the History of Singapore Pioneers (singaporepioneers.blogspot.com). He informed the folks Singapore Heritage that the blog was for those who were interested in finding out more on who those pioneers are and their achievements. Jave also adds that he welcomes comments and suggestions.

OK, I have several suggestions for Jave:
1) Acknowledge the source of your photos;
2) Cite the source of your information (e.g. what were the print/ digital references you used in writing the articles);
3) I suppose you’ll develop the content as you go along. Right now it seems very similar to the entries found in books. Maybe you could add your personal insights to your posts, in addition to the facts about the person. Or you could relate them to actual physical sites in Singapore (e.g. buildings, statutes);
4) Expand your definition of “Pioneers”. Most of the prominent pioneers are well covered and research in school and research texts. So you could vary your coverage to lesser known people, or simply those ordinary people.
Anyway, good job, Jave. I’m sure the folks at Yesterday.SG will agree it’s very encouraging that younger folks like you (or as Uncle Chun See would say, “Kiddos”) take an interest in the people part of Singapore, and you’re actively doing something about it.

I went to this blog. Wonder how old is he? Looks like he is a young man. Quite nice to see a heritage enthusiast. I agree with Rambling Librarian’s suggestions. I noticed his has a list of sites and sources in his side bar, under “Acknowledgement and References”. Think he should acknowledge for each individual post. Like, which page was the information from, what book, author title. I wonder if that is also reflective of what schools teach students nowadays. Or rather, schools do not teach enough of making sure students know how to cite their sources.

Hi JustMe,
Sincerely thank you for the comment/suggestion, indeed I’m quite young, just celebrated my 26th Birthday last week.
Reason for not acknowledging each individual post because all these postings are just temperory and soon, they will be taken down (new version will be posted up).
As for your doubt on what a school teaches the students, personally, I think that for a school, it shall concentrate on students academic results and not on who to acknowledge (If you have good suggestions on topics that schools shall include into their teaching materials, maybe you can approach MOE).
Thank you and look forward to your comment/suggestion again.
Rgds
Jave
