“… That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I’ve seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door”
- Lennon/McCartney

Why were these taxis all lined up towards the Singapore Philatelic Museum?

Apparently, it was a taxi familiarisation exercise for SPM and there were free goodie bags up for grabs.

SPM‘s staff had fun giving out them goodie bags and spreading the word about their museum to cab drivers who dropped by.

The contents of the goodie bag?

A box of Nestle cereals, NEWater, Biscuits, Singapore Philatelic Museum brochure, Museums in the City printout and NEWater brochure.
373 goodie bags were snapped up by noon.
Did you know there’s a 1997 Stamp of Singapore Taxi? Thanks to Lily Samuel of SPM for sharing this image with us

So that was the reason! Clever marketing by SPM.

It’s an NHB-wide initiative, spearheaded by SPM. To get cabbies to collect the “Museums in the City” printout which has info on the museums in the Civic District.
Hopefully, next time we say, “Uncle, National Museum.” he won’t reply with, “Where’s that?”
There will be another exercise soon, I think. This time we’ll be prepared with our cameras.
