Armorial Dish

Posted by Alex Goh Kwang Yang

The picture above depicts a magnificent armorial dish which was found in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, China, which was analyzed to have been made in the 18th Century.

The perfect circular shape of the armorial dish symbolizes the time and effort spent in creating such a wonderful product. The dish has a border decorated with creative patterns and designs, with pictures situated at the centre of the dish. The brilliance of the pictures at the centre of the dish tells me that they were intricately designed, which means that a lot of hard work must have gone into creating such a wonderful masterpiece.

From the excellence of the armorial dish, it showcases the talents of the people in China at the point in time when the dish was created. It elaborates that the creation of the dish would not be possible if not for the wonderful talents and skills these people possessed, combined with their tolerance and patience in taking time to produce the quality product in the picture.

The high standard of the product also suggests that perhaps the dish was created for the authorities to use.

Frankly speaking, we have a lot to learn from the creator/s of the armorial dish. Their patience and tolerance tell me that tolerance and patience is the key to the success of achieving our desires and goals in life, just like how the creation of the dish was made possible.
