As Singapore gears up towards the much-anticipated elections, just rambling shares in interesting observation from the materials published by the People’s Action Party in early comics and posters:

What element from the above comic can still be seen in political posters today? Besides PAP’s lightning logo, of course. just rambling notes
If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in these posters is the use of the modern city as a backdrop in a PAP election visual — a reflection of urbanism as a integral tool of this political party.
I think it’s interesting that the use of the modern city is in itself a symbol of progress and prosperity. What kind of visual cues are used to represent progress, or are used as a symbol for an idealised Singapore? I look at it differently. It looks like the people have been crushed by a collapsed building! So the subtle message could be ‘Beware what you build doesn’t come crumbling down…’??
