Well…it’s called a Buddhist Thunderbolt. I figure it has something to do with calling down lightning etc?
Ok! So let’s get started on Post No.1! Well, the picture above is called a Buddhist Thunderbolt (as aforementioned). Why do I find it interesting? Simple, I was watching Murder Princess. One of the characters in this not-so-well-known anime uses it as a weapon. Of course, it’s not actually CALLED a Buddhist Thunderbolt in the anime but the character uses it to summon down bolts of lightning that rain upon enemies. So yeah, I figured that the two were kind of connected somehow?
Alright enough playing around, time to get to the BORING part. I’ll try to spice it up so you kiddies reading this won’t start stoning and go duh…
Not like I can find much information on this artefact. But! From prior knowledge, I know that in the past (and even now) there were so many beliefs that all the people in this world had. Buddhists had a thunder God whom they believed to be able to call upon lightning and storms to shatter the earth whenever he felt like it. That’s just mean you know?! Raining down thunderbolts and charring all those poor mortals…
Okok time to get back on track. Personally, I think the Buddhist Thunderbolt is meant to be used by humans as a substitute for the Thunder God. Think about it, you can’t possibly be bothering the Gods all day all night yabbering on about lack of rain or like going “Hey God! Give us some lightning kay?!” Who knows, they might get seriously irked off and give you just what you want. I.e. a good zapping.
SO! My hypothesis is that this Thunderbolt is like an artificial God that the people use whenever their God isn’t feeling in the mood to cast lightning. But come to think of it, it’s mentioned in the Holy Bible that one of the Ten Commandments has something to do with not making monuments of other “Gods” or to try and play God…or something like that.. Darn I can’t really remember…But the point is! Won’t the Thunder God get mad ANYWAY if they make this Thunderbolt? oh well.
Something I like about this artefact: it looks golden. SHINYSHINYSHINY OHOHOHO!!! Sadly it’s just bronze (sigh!). Then again if you’re on a tight schedule, you’ll just have to deal with it on a cas-by-case basis. To me the two ends of the artefacts look like crowns, perhaps to try and please the Thunder God by telling him/her/it that the thunderbolts created by him/her/it are royal-ish? No idea…O_O
Wonder if I covered enough? Oh well so anyway! THat concludes my first blog entry! vote me please (oh no shamelessness strikes!) =^_^=
