In Edward’s third part of his reflections about 1960s life in the Sembawang Hills Estate, he talks about the newly-built home that he moved into. He starts off commenting about the toilet, and moves off the the other features of the house such as the plumbing, ventilation and parking.
Edward remembers:
When we first moved into Sembawang Hills Estate in 1958, the newly built homes had the old style “squatting” toilet. It wasn’t until about 10 years later that we installed the modern toilet, which allowed users to be comfortably seated while “doing their business”.
