This artefact is the Arabic translation of the Bhagavad Gita– a highly regarded religious text of the Hindus. It was translated by a Muslim– Abul Abel Faizi in 1800s.

It was written as early as the 17th century and has been preserved in its original state up to this day by the National Heritage Board.

I see religious harmony in action when I look at this artefact. A Muslim has translated the Bhagavad Gita– the Bible of the Hindus into Arabic,a language used largely by Muslims.

This historical artefact must have brought about a deeper sense of understanding between Muslims and Hindus during the period it was published. The best part is– it is still as relevant in the modern day context. It will definitely help to establish religious and racial harmony, not only in Singapore but in the whole wide world.
