Dear friends

I am doing my PhD research on the 1961 Bukit Ho Swee fire and have posted one or two accounts of my experiences on the group. My work is a social history of the residents of Bukit Ho Swee, examining life in the kampong, the trauma of the great fire and the move of the fire victims into HDB flats.

I have been talking to former residents in Kampong Bukit Ho Swee and others who were associated with the fire in some way, such as architects, fire-fighters, social workers and so on. Their personal stories have been invaluable to my research.

I would like to invite individuals who lived through those years to participate in my research. Please contact me if you are willing to share your experiences, or if you know a friend, colleague or grandparent who lived in Kampong Bukit Ho Swee, or were involved in the fire or rehousing or relief of the fire victims, such as fire fighters, policemen, journalists, social workers, HDB officials, or architects.

I can be contacted via email lkshis@gmail.com.

Many thanks and best regards.
