The history of swords..

Posted by phantomine

This post is for the SGCool contest. Well, although I’m a girl, does not mean I have to follow what girl likes. For me, I like ‘Weaponry’. But for this, I am more interested in SWORDS. Any kind of swords. I think they are cool and interesting…

I chose this artefact because this atefact is really interesting. At first, I did not know anything about swords. So, I thought this is a sword, and then I wonder, where is the balde? Then when I did more researches on swords, I found the ‘Sword History’….

From the sword history, the hilt is one of the parts of a sword. It is the lower portion of the sword consisting the cross-guard, handle and pommel. The pommel is the counter-weight which secures the hilt to the blade and allows the hand to either rest on it or grip it. This hilt is from India in the 18th century and was put in the National Museum of Singapore in 1996.

I think the hilt is really nice.
The sword have many interesting parts and a unique hilt.

The uniqueness comes from its function.
Based on its uniqueness, I am not surprise if it is being displayed in a museum.
