Those retro bus tickets

Posted by noelbynature

Times of My Life posted his feature about transport some weeks ago, but I couldn’t help but feature them here because of these retro bus tickets:

I remember in my youth childhood days there were two bus services that used bus conductors that issued those very same tickets. From Marine Parade, service number 4, a blue minibus, took us directly into town, while CSS 8 took us to Shenton Way. Sadly, the blue bus – I think it might be Comfort – is no more, and CSS 8, now known as CSS 608, is on its last week of its run. That bus service too, is going to be withdrawn.

See what Laokokok has to say about his memories of transport in the 60s and 70s here.

My memory of them was the conductor stamping the ticket with his hand-held clicking-thingie. I was always facinated with the little bits of paper that floated down after that. Does anyone remember how the ticketing system worked? Which number would the conductor click on, and why?

Ya.. i used to ponder how it works even until today. It would be nice if someone can share the knowledge.

I remember there was also a conductor who would board the bus to check if all the passengers had bought tickets.
