Without a trace

Posted by noelbynature

Do you remember the names Toh Hong Huat and Keh Chin Ann? In the late 80s, you would not have passed by a public place without seeing their faces. The two primary six boys were best friends from Owen Primary school who were last seen at the middle of the day in 1986 – and to this day, their whereabouts are unknown. The case of the two missing schoolboys are some of the most (in)famous cases involving Singaporeans that remain unsolved today.

Uncle Dicko remembers the case of the missing Owen Primary School boys:

Toh Hong Huat and Keh Chin Ann were just ordinary school boys who came from a very humble background. When I first heard the news about this case, I was emotionally affected. One of them was just living opposite my block ( my old home in T P) and I had seen him before as a little kid growing up.

School was just a short walk away. At 12.30 pm, they were last seen together. Then suddenly…never again till this day! Their books and bags were left near a tree. NO ONE …yes, not one soul around that spot, saw anything that could help the police to solve the case.

I remember that signs about the missing two boys were placed all over the island – from community halls to the swimming pools and that there was a reward posted by McDonalds. When news of the story came out on the news, I remember my parents sitting me down and telling me to be careful when coming back from school, and especially not to follow any strangers.

The Owen Primary school boys wasn’t the only high-profile case of missing persons in Singapore. Read Uncle Dicko’s post to find out more about an older case involving missing social escorts here.

  2. Jay Said,

Maybe when the dad tried to smuggle them out of sg in an attempt to prevent his son from going back to his mum something happen along the way .The boat or other subsitute use for smuggling capsize ? They drown as a result in the middle of the sea?Everything is possible .So long still no news most probably dead long ago .Or i should say the hope of them being alive is very slim .

There are also cases of human trifficking syndicate being paid to smuggle ppl out to another destination ,along the way they get suffocate to death after being lock in an unfit cabin to prevent detection .Their whereabout will only be known if they can locate one of the missing child dad .if not ,probably no hope .
