Every image tells a story. Photos for the Future, a key initiative by The History Channel (StarHub TV Channel 9), is inviting viewers across Asia to step up and proudly share their photographs and stories.

Some of these keepsakes are of historical significance like this entry:

In 1971, my dad (extreme left) represented Singapore in the First Fédération International des Quilleurs (FIQ) Asian Zone Invitational Bowling Tournament. Back then, there was no formal organization helping budding bowlers. To compete in international scene, it all depended on the passion and perseverance of the individuals. But these pioneers led to the foundation of the national teams after, our future. – Joyce Lim

Aimed to “create a lasting visual record of life over the past century in Asia”, Photos of the Future will document these precious images for future generations. The History Channel is looking for photos to “help mark a moment, a period or an event in history.”

Try peering closely into one of your photos – that building in the backdrop, has it been torn down or refurbished? How about that picture of your mother dressed in an elegant cheong sam – a hint of fashion trends back in her day?

What do you want your children to remember of your lives and that of your forefathers? Sometimes all it takes is just one picture to trigger a flood of long forgotten memories of well … simpler times.
