I suppose most people like me still equate Vietnam with that terrible war three decades ago. But after visiting some of the exhibitions at the on-going Vietnam Festival, I was surprised by the depth and breath of its history and culture.

At the Asian Civilisations Museum, its exhibition Viet Nam From Myth To Modernity has a very impressive range of artefacts from the northern Red River region. The pieces date back 1000 years.
